Issue No. 2272- Vow (nadhr) means making it obligatory upon oneself to do some good act or to refrain from doing an act which is better not to do for the sake of Allah.

Meat Purchased from Muslim Markets

Issue No.1757- There is no harm in purchasing and selling meats taken from a Muslim or a Muslim market. However, if one knows that the Muslim who has taken the meats from a non-Muslim or has imported them from non-Muslim countries, has not certified whether or not the animal had been slaughtered Islamically, its purchase and sale are both void and haram. Nevertheless, if it has been obtained from a Muslim who is apparently adherent to Islamic laws, and he (the buyer) considers it probable that he might have investigated about it, his transaction is in order. However, leather which is imported from non-Muslim countries, are ṭāhir and it is permissible to buy them, but prayer with them would be invalid.

Issue No. 100- Meat sold at Muslim markets or given as a gift by a Muslim is ṭāhir and halal, and it is not necessary to investigate. However, if one knows that the Muslim obtained it from a non-Muslim and has not investigated enough, it should be avoided, however, hide which is brought from non-Muslim countries is ṭāhir, though it is not permissible to perform prayer in it.

Men Should Stand Ahead of Women

Issue No.811- Women should stand behind men while performing prayer, and their place of sajdah should be a little behind men, otherwise, the prayer will be void whether they are maḥram or non-maḥram. However, if there is a wall or curtain, etc., between men and women, or, if the distance between them is ten cubits (about 5 metres), then there would be no problem in the prayer. In addition, it is not necessary to observe this rule in crowded places which it is hard to observe.

Meritorious Times for Obligatory Prayers

Issue No.695- The meritorious time for ẓuhr prayer is from the commencement of the time of ẓuhr prayer up to the time when the shadow of the indicator, which appears after midday, equals the length of the indicator itself. The meritorious time for ‘aṣr prayer starts from the time the shadow of the indicator equals its length, until the moment the shadow of the indicator doubles in length. The meritorious time for maghrib prayer is from sunset until the disappearance of the redness in the sky, which usually appears in the West after sunset. The meritorious time for ‘ishā’ prayer is from when the abovementioned redness disappears, until completion of one-third of the night. The meritorious time for fajr prayer is from the fajr adhān until the time when the horizon becomes bright.

Method and Conditions of Becoming Mahram as a Result of Being Suckled One Full Day

Issue No. 2117- As was said in the previous issue if a child is breastfed by a woman for one day and night, the suckling becomes the cause of being maḥram. In order to become maḥram by suckling it is necessary that the child does not take any food during the one day and night and also does not suck the milk of any other woman. However, if he takes so little food that people do not consider that he has taken food in between, there is no harm in it. Moreover, the child who sucks the milk of one woman fifteen times should not suck the milk of any other woman during these fifteen times, and each time it should suck milk to its fill. Hence, as an obligatory precaution, two times suckling which is incomplete, will be counted neither as two times nor as one.

Issue No.1796- If a commodity is sold by cash, both buyer and seller may demand the commodity or the money from each other and take possession of it after the transaction. Rendering in properties such as a house or land, etc., is to empower the buyer to make use of it and in movable properties such as a carpet or clothes, etc., is to make it available to the buyer in a way that nothing prevents him if he wishes to take them to another place.
