Meat Purchased from Muslim Markets
Issue No.1757- There is no harm in purchasing and selling meats taken from a Muslim or a Muslim market. However, if one knows that the Muslim who has taken the meats from a non-Muslim or has imported them from non-Muslim countries, has not certified whether or not the animal had been slaughtered Islamically, its purchase and sale are both void and haram. Nevertheless, if it has been obtained from a Muslim who is apparently adherent to Islamic laws, and he (the buyer) considers it probable that he might have investigated about it, his transaction is in order. However, leather which is imported from non-Muslim countries, are ṭāhir and it is permissible to buy them, but prayer with them would be invalid.
