Greeting with Salām During Prayer

Issue No.1018- A person offering prayer should not greet anyone with Salām, and if another person says Salām to him, it is obligatory to respond him by using the same words without adding anything to it. For example, if someone says Assalamu ‘Alayk, he should say in reply Assalamu ‘Alayk, and if he says Salamun ‘Alaykum, he should also say Salamun ‘Alaykum in reply. Even if he says “Salām”, he should say “Salām” in reply to him.

Hajj and its Conditions

Issue No. 1733- Ḥajj (pilgrimage) means visiting the Ka‘bah, and performing acts which are called ‘ḥajj rituals’ and it is obligatory on a person once in his lifetime, provided that he fulfills the following conditions:1- Being mature.2- Being sane3- By performing ḥajj, one does not neglect an important obligatory duty or does not commit an important sin.4- Capability of performing ḥajj (istiṭā‘ah¬), and this depends on a number of factors:a. He should possess provisions and means of transport or should have enough property with which to possess these things.b. There should be no obstacle or fear of harm to one's life, honor or property on the way to Makkah. If the way is closed or there is fear of harm, it is not obligatory on him to perform ḥajj. In case, however, he can reach Makkah by another route, it is necessary that he should go to Makkah via that route even though it may be a longer one.c. He should be physically capable enough to perform the rites of ḥajj.d. He should have enough time to reach Makkah and perform the rituals of ḥajj.e. He should possess sufficient means to meet the expenses of those whose maintenance is obligatory upon him according to the religion or common view (‘urf).f. Possessing the property or business and work through which he shall be able to run his life upon return.

Halal Meat Animals

Issue No. 2212- If a halal meat animal is slaughtered in the manner which will be described later, irrespective of whether it is a wild animal or a domestic one, its meat becomes halal to eat. However, the meat of an animal which is penetrated by a human being, and even the meat of its baby is haram. Similarly, the meat of a faeces-eating animal is haram except for when it is fed with ṭāhir food in accordance with the rules prescribed in sharia and becomes ṭāhir.

Haraam Parts of Halal Meat Animals

Issue No. 2259- The following fourteen parts of halal meat animals, are haram to eat, albeit as an obligatory precaution in some of them:1- Blood2- Male reproductive organs3- Female reproductive organs 4- Womb 5- Glands6- Testicles7- Pituitary gland [1]8- the spinal cord9- The two wide (yellow) nerves which are on both sides of the spinal cord10- Gall bladder11- Spleen12- Urinary bladder13- Pupils14- A part which is in the middle of the hoofs of the animal.The aforementioned body parts are found in large animals, but in small ones like sparrows, if some of these things are not distinguishable or separable, there is no harm in eating them.

Issue No. 438Rules regarding a Ḥā’iḍ Woman

Haram Acts for a Ḥā’iḍ Woman

Issue No.438-Haram acts for a ḥā’iḍ woman are as follows:1- All acts of worship for which wuḍū or ghusl or tayammum is required, such as prayer, fasting and ṭawāf of the holy Ka‘bah. However, performing acts of worship for which ṭahārah is not required, e.g., offering prayer over the deceased, is allowed.2- All those acts which are forbidden for a junub individual (see Issue No.370).3- Having sexual intercourse; it is haram for both the man and woman.4- Divorce in such a state is void and ineffective.
