Issue No. 1584Uses of Khums

Detracting the Khums of Previous Year from the benefits of following year is not Permissible

Issue No. 1584- If a person enters a deal with the Mujtahid or his representative about khums and it is agreed that he pays the due khums in the following year, he cannot deduct khums from the incomes of that year. For example, if he owes £200.00 as khums, and in the following year, he has £2000.00 more than the expenses of his year, he should pay khums of the £2000.00 together with £200.00.

Dhikr of Allah

Issue No.1016-Dhikr of Allah, reciting Qur’an and supplication anywhere in prayer is permissible, and if one utters a sentence like ‘Allahu Akbar' with the intention of dhikr, but raises his voice to indicate something to someone, there is no problem in it. However, reciting the supplication or dhikr is in any language other than Arabic will invalidate prayer as an obligatory precaution.

Issue No.984- While performing the obligatory sajdah of the holy Qur’an it is not necessary to utter any dhikr though it is better to recite Dhikrs; preferably the following:  "لا اِلهَ إلاَّ اللّهُ حَقّاً حَقّاً لا اِلهَ إلاَّ اللّهُ اِيماناً وَ تَصْديقاً لا اِلهَ إلاَّ اللّهُ عُبُودِيَّةً وَرِقّاً سَجَدْتُ لَکَ يا رَبِّ تَعَبُّداً وَرِقّاً لا مُسْتَنْکِفاً وَ لا مُسْتَکْبِراً بَلْ اَنَا عَبْدٌ ذَليلٌ ضَعيفٌ خائِفٌ مُسْتَجيرٌ"

Dhikr of Qunūt

Issue No.998- It is not necessary to recite a particular dhikr or supplication in qunūt. It is better that while reciting qunūt, a person should keep his hands in front of his face, join the palms of his hands, and keep them facing the sky, join all his fingers, and recite the dhikr of Allah or recite supplications. Whatever a person recites in qunūt is sufficient, even if he says, “سُبْحانَ اللهِ” only once. However, it would be better to recite supplications such as the following:لا اِلهَ إلاَّ اللّهُ الْحَليمُ الْکَريمُ لا اِلهَ إلاَّ اللّهُ الْعَلِىُّ الْعَظيمُ سُبْحانَ اللّهِ رَبِّ السَّمَواتِ السَّبْعِ وَ رَبِّ الاْرَضينَ السَّبْعِ وَ ما فيهِنَّ وَ ما بَيْنَهُنَّ وَ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظيمِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلّهِ رَبِّ الْعالَمينَ and ask Allah to fulfil his requests in this world and the Hereafter.

Issue No. 931Rukū‘ (Bowing)

Dhikr of Rukū‘

Issue No.931- It is obligatory to utter a dhikr in rukū‘. One should, as an obligatory precaution, say "سُبْحانَ اللهِ" three times or "سُبْحانَ رِبِّىَ الْعَظِيمِ وَ بِحَمْدِهِ" once, and it should be uttered in correct Arabic. It is recommended that the dhikr be repeated three or five or seven times.

Issue No.946- It is obligatory to utter dhikr in rukū‘, and as an obligatory precaution, one should recite “سُبْحَانَ اللّهِ” three times or “سُبْحانَ رَبِّىَ الْعَظِيمِ وَ بِحَمْدِهِ” once. It is also obligatory to utter dhikr in sajdah, and the obligatory precaution is to recite “سُبْحانَ اللّهِ” three times or “سُبْحانَ رِبِّىَ الْأَعْلى وَ بِحَمْدِهِ” once. The more he utters the dhikr the better it would be.

Issue No.990- In the last rak‘at of all prayers, after reciting tashahhud, it is obligatory to recite salām, and salām has three formulas: 1- اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْکَ اَيُّهَا النَّبِىُّ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَکاتُهُ, 2- اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْنا وَ عَلي عِبادِ اللهِ الصالِحينَ, 3- اَلسلامُ عَلَيْکُمْ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَکاتُهُ. The obligatory salām is the third one, and if one recites specifically this one, it would be sufficient. However, it is not sufficient if only the second one is recited, as an obligatory precaution. The first salām is recommended.

Issue No. 317Twelfth Condition: There Should Be No Obstacle

Dirt under Fingernails

Issue No.317- A little dirt under fingernails would not invalidate wuḍū although, it is better to be cleaned. However, when the nails are clipped, the dirt which prevents water from reaching the skin must be removed. Moreover, if the nails are unusually long, the dirt collected beneath must be removed if it blocks the water from reaching the skin.
