Issue No. 1609Zakat of Grains

The Duty of a Person owns Quadruplet Grains in Several Cities

Issue No. 1609- If a person owns wheat, barley, palm-dates and grapes in different cities where the time of ripening of crops and fruits is different from one another and all of them are considered to be the product of one and the same year, and if the product which ripens first reaches the taxable limit, he should pay zakāt on it at the time of its ripening and should pay zakāt on the remaining products when they become available. And if the thing which ripens first does not reach the taxable limit, he should wait until the other fruits/grains ripen. Hence, if they reach the taxable limit collectively, payment of zakāt on them is obligatory.

Issue No. 1598Zakat of Grains

The Duty of a Person who Purchases Quadruplet Grains if He knows or Doubts that the seller has paid Zakat or not

Issue No. 1598- If a person purchases wheat, barley, dates or grapes, and knows that the seller has paid zakāt on them, or doubts whether or not he has paid it, it is not obligatory on him to pay anything. In case he knows that he (the seller) has not paid zakāt on them, and if the Mujtahid does not permit the transaction, the transaction with regard to that portion is void. If the Mujtahid permits the transaction, he takes the amount of zakāt from the seller. In case he does not permit the transaction, he takes the amount of zakāt from the buyer in this case if he has already given the amount of zakāt to the seller, the buyer can take it back from him.

The Duty of a Person who has never Paid Khums since he has been Eligable and has Incomes

Issue No. 1520- If a person who has not paid khums since he was mature, and has made profits and purchased some equipment for life, and has now become aware of his religious duty of khums and wishes to fulfil his duty and purify his life he should observe the following: If he has bought with the profits of his trade something which he does not need and one year has passed on it, he should pay its khums. If he has bought household equipment or other necessities in accordance with his social status, it is not necessary to pay khums on them, if he knows that he purchased them during the year with the same year’s profit. If he does not know whether it has been during that year or one year has passed on it, he should, as an obligatory precaution, make compromise with a Mujtahid or his representative. That is, he should calculate all his doubtful properties and the Mujtahid or his representative will make an estimation of khums and will compromise with him, and after he pays the khums, his entire property will become pure.

The Duty of a Prisoner

Issue No. 1461- If a prisoner cannot ascertain the commence of the month of Ramadan, he should act according to his presumption, and fast in the month which is more likely to be the month of Ramadan. But if he can not presume any month to be the month of Ramadan, it will be in order if he observes fast on any month. However, if his imprisonment continues, he should as an obligatory precaution, observe fast in the same month next year.

The Duty of a Woman about Covering her Body against Namahram

Issue No. 2082- It is obligatory for a woman to cover her body and hair from non-maḥram men, and the recommended precaution is that she should cover her body and hair from an immature boy who is able to discern between good and bad and could probably be sexually aroused. However, it is not necessary for her to cover her face and hands up to wrists.

Issue No. 1298Rulings of Āyāt Prayer

The Duty of a Woman in Her Menses or Nifās

Issue No. 1298- If a solar or lunar eclipse takes place when a woman is in her monthly menses or nifās (lochia), and if she has not yet become ṭāhir from the blood of menses or nifās until the eclipse ends, it will not be obligatory for her to offer āyāt Prayer nor is there any qaḍā upon her.

The Duty of a Women with Qalīlah Istiḥāḍah When Offering Prayers

Issue No.410- If a woman of qalīlah istiḥāḍah performs ẓuhr and ‘aṣr prayers, or maghrib and ‘ishā’ prayers separately, she must perform wuḍū for each prayer and also for recommended prayers. However, one wuḍū or one ghusl is sufficient for the whole Night prayer. It is not necessary to do ghusl or perform wuḍū for Precautionary prayer, forgotten sajdah and tashahhud, and sajdah al-sahw [1] , all of which are done immediately after the prayer.

Issue No. 1427- If an insane person recovers and becomes sane, it will not be obligatory to offer qaḍā for the fasts which he did not observe when he was insane. Similarly, if a non-Muslim embraces Islam, it is not obligatory to offer qaḍā for the fasts of the period during which he was not a Muslim. However, if a Muslim apostatises (becomes Murtad) and becomes Muslim again, he must perform qaḍā for the fasts of the period during which he was an apostate.

The Duty of the Follower When He Can Not Hear the Imam’s al-Fātiḥa and the Sūrah

Issue No. 1275- If the follower hears sūrah al-fātiḥa and the other sūrah of the imam in the first and second rak‘at of the fajr, maghrib and ‘ishā’ prayers, he should not recite them. And if he does not hear the voice of the imam, it is permissible for him to recite sūrah al-fātiḥa and the other sūrah in a low voice. The follower should not recite sūrah al-fātiḥa and the other sūrah in the first and second rak‘ats of ẓuhr and ‘aṣr prayers and it is mustaḥab that instead of them he utters a dhikr.
