Issue No.1949- Giving a loan for interest is haram just like taking a loan along with interest, and one who has taken a loan with interest does not become its owner, and it is not permissible to make use of it. However, if the situation is such that the loaner is consent with the borrower making use of his money even though he would not pay interest, the person taking the loan may use it.

Issue No.161- If giving the holy Qur'an to an unbeliever will lead to its desecration, it will be haram to give it to him. However, if he is likely to be guided or if it is for the propagation of Islam, it is allowed and at times even obligatory.

Giving Zakat before it Becomes Obligatory

Issue No. 1675- One cannot give something as zakāt to a poor person before it becomes obligatory on him. However, he may lend him and after it becomes obligatory on him to pay zakāt, he can adjust the thing given by him to the poor person against zakāt.

Issue No. 1719Miscellaneous Issues Regarding Zakat of Fitra

Giving Zakat of Fitra Before the Month of Ramadhann

Issue No. 1719- One should not give zakāt of fiṭrah before the month of Ramadan, and if he does, he should give it again on the day of Eid al-Fitr. Similarly, the obligatory precaution is that he should not give it during the month of Ramadan either. However, if one lends a poor person before Ramadan, and adjusts the loan against fiṭrah, when payment of fiṭrah becomes obligatory, there is no harm in it.

Giving Zakat to Someone who is not known as a poor Person

Issue No. 1648- If it is not clear that a person is poor, zakāt cannot be given to him. However, in case it is highly probable from one’s appearance that he is poor, it is permissible to offer him zakāt. Moreover if trustworthy people inform that he is poor, zakāt can be given to him.

Issue No. 1662Niyyat (Intention) of Zakat

Giving Zakat with the intention of Pleasure of Almighty Allah is a Condition

Issue No. 1662- A person should give zakāt with the intention of qurbah, that is, to comply with the command of Allah, the Exalted. One should specify in his intention, whether he is giving the zakāt on his wealth, or zakāt of fiṭrah (zakāt paid on Eid al-Fitr). However, if for example, it is obligatory on him to pay zakāt on wheat and barley it is not necessary for him to specify that what he is giving is the zakāt of wheat or the zakāt of barley.

Issue No.247- It is haram to eat and drink from gold and silver utensils and generally, it is haram to use them as utensils. As a matter of fact, as an obligatory precaution, it is not permissible to use them for the purpose of decoration or any other purpose either.

Issue No. 1624- If gold and silver coins in which more than usual quantity of another metal is mixed are not called gold and silver coins, and if their pure gold or silver reaches the taxable limit, zakāt should be paid on them. However, if one doubts whether they have reached the taxable limit or not, it is not obligatory to pay zakāt on them; if he can test them to ascertain the quantity, the obligatory precaution is to do so.
