Transmission of Najāsah by Insects

Issue No.148- If a fly or any other insect sits on something najis which is wet, and then sits on a ṭāhir object, it will not become najis, since it is likely that the legs of the insect have not acquired any wetness. However, if one is sure that it has carried a najāsah with it and the najāsah has been transferred, it will become najis.

Transmitting Debtor's Obligation on Sponsor after Sponsorship

Issue No.1977- After a person stands surety to repay a debtor’s debts, he becomes responsible for the debt, and the debtor will be free of any obligation. In case however, the guarantor has stood surety at the request of the debtor, whenever the guarantor pays the debt, he can claim it from the former debtor. There is another kind of surety in which a person gives a guaranty and says: "If the debtor does not repay your debt I shall pay it"; this kind of surety is also in order. In fact, most of the sureties that take place in banks or against loans are of this kind. (The first type of the surety is called transference of liability from one individual to another, and the second one is called addition of one obligation to another, and both of them are in order.)

Transplanting and Anatomy

Issue No. 2444- It is permissible to transplant a heart or a kidney or any other parts of a body, whether it is removed from the body of an alive or a dead person, or from a Muslim or non-Muslim. However, if amputating a limb from a dead Muslim for transplanting it to another body is the only way of keeping a Muslim alive, then it is permissible. The position is the same if protecting a major limb of the body, e.g. an eye, depends upon amputating and grafting the limb. In any case, the precaution is that the person who amputates the limb of a dead Muslim should pay compensation for it in accordance with the rules explained in the detailed books of Jurisprudence.

Issue No. 1447Rulings Regarding Fasting of a Traveler

Travelling Before or After Noon

Issue No. 1447- If a person who is fasting, travels after ẓuhr he should complete his fast, but if he travels before ẓuhr his fast is void. However, he cannot break his fast before reaching the limit of tarakhuṣ, and if he terminates his fast, it will be obligatory on him to offer kaffāra. (The limit of tarakhuṣ is a point where the adhān of the city cannot be heard, or where one cannot be seen by the residents of the city).

Issue No. 1124A Less than Eight Farsakh Journey

Travelling Between Two Places Which Are Less Than four Farsakhs Apart

Issue No.1124- If a person travels several times back and forth between two places which are less than four farsakhs apart, the prayer should not be shortened, even if the total distance covered by him may add up to eight farsakhs or more. However, if he is considered as a traveller by common understanding (‘urf), he should as an obligatory precaution offer both the complete prayer as well as the qaṣr (shortened) prayer.

Issue No. 1140Journey for Haram Purpose

Travelling for Hunting to Earn One’s Livelihood

Issue No.1140- If a person goes out for hunting to earn his livelihood or even to increase his wealth, his journey is permissible and he should offer qaṣr prayer. However, if he goes out hunting for leisure and recreation alone, his journey is haram and he should offer complete prayer.
