Raising One’s Head from Rukū‘ Before the Completion of the Obligatory Dhikr

Issue No.935- If a person intentionally raises his head from rukū‘ before the completion of the obligatory dhikr, his prayer is void. In case, however, he raises his head by mistake and before he exits the state of rukū‘ he recollects that he has not completed the dhikr of rukū‘, he should make himself still and utter the dhikr. And if he recollects it after he has exited the state of rukū‘, his prayer is correct.

Pronouncing the Dhikr Before One's Body Becomes Still

Issue No.934- If a person recites the dhikr of rukū‘ before he has properly bowed down and before his body becomes still, he should repeat it after his body becomes still. If he does so intentionally, he should, as an obligatory precaution, offer the prayers later again.

If One’s Back Is Bent Due to Old Age or Diseases

Issue No.938- If a person’s back is bent due to old age or diseases or other reasons he should, at the time of performing prayer, straighten himself as much as possible, and if he is not able to do so, he should straighten himself a little before rukū‘ and then come back to the state of rukū‘, and if this is not possible either, he should bow a little more for rukū‘ provided that he does not exit the state of rukū‘. And if that is also not possible, he should, as an obligatory precaution, make an indication with his head for rukū‘ and also consider that state of his to be a part of rukū‘.

Placing the Forehead on a High Place by Mistake

Issue No.952- When a person places his forehead, by mistake, on a place that is higher or lower than four joined fingers compared to the place where his knees and toes rest, if it is so high that it could not be called a sajdah, he should raise his head and place it on a point whose height is less than four joined fingers. But, if the height is to the extent that it is still called a sajdah, it is obligatory to drag his forehead [while connected to the ground], to a place which is equal to four joined fingers or less [in height]. If this is not possible, the obligatory precaution is that he should complete his prayer and reoffer it.

The Ruling regarding an Obstacle Between the Forehead and Turbah

Issue No.953- It is necessary that the forehead is placed on a thing upon which performing sajdah is correct. This issue will be explained later inshallah. And if there is an obstacle in between which impedes the skin to reach the turbah [earthen tablet] like one’s hair or the filth on the turbah, the sajdah is void. However, it does not harm if the colour of the turbah has changed.

Placing the Tip of Two Big Toes on the Ground

Issue No.955- As an obligatory precaution, in sajdah, a person should place the tip of his two big toes on the ground and placing the other toes will not be sufficient. Similarly, if the big toes do not rest on the ground owing to the nails being long, the prayer is void as an obligatory precaution.

Raising the Forehead Unintentionally from the Place of Sajdah

Issue No.960- If the forehead of a person is raised unintentionally from the place of sajdah and goes back, this is treated to be one sajdah whether he has recited the dhikr of sajdah or not. And if he raises his forehead intentionally before uttering the dhikr, his prayer will be void, otherwise, there will be no problem.
