Issue No. 572Orders regarding Ṣalāt Al-Mayyit

Offering Ṣalāt Al-Mayyit in Congregation

Issue No.572- It is recommended to perform the prayer for the dead individual in congregation, however if one offers it in congregation, he should recite all the takbīrs and supplications himself, and as was mentioned before, the detailed supplications mentioned above are recommended. However, in case someone does not know them by heart, he may recite them from a book.

Issue No. 636When There Is Insufficient Time

Omitting the Mustaḥab Acts of Prayer

Issue No.636- If a person has enough time to only perform wuḍū or ghusl and offer prayer without its recommended acts, like iqāmah and qunūt, he should do so. Rather, if he does not have time even to recite the sūrah (second sūrah after sūrah al-fātiḥa in prayer) he must avoid reciting it, and offer the prayer with wuḍū.

One’s Duty in Valid Doubts

Issue No. 1078 - A person that has any of the above valid doubts should not dismiss the prayer; rather he should act according to the rules stated previously. One who faces one of the aforementioned situations should first ponder a little about the risen doubt. However, if one could not obtain certainty regarding either sides (of doubt) or even a presumption, [where having a presumption is sufficient]; he should dismiss the prayer if the doubt is among those doubts that are invalidators. Nevertheless, if they are among the valid doubts, he should act according to its prescribed rules.

One’s Forehead Should Be on Earth or Those Things Which Grow from Earth

Issue No.965- When performing sajdah, one’s forehead should be on earth or those things which grow from earth, e.g., wood and leaves of trees. However, sajdah on edibles or clothes, though they may grow from earth, is not permissible. Similarly, sajdah on metals such as gold and silver is invalid, but sajdah on mineral stones such as marbles, white and black stones and even on agate is correct.

One Legally be Able to Possess the Property

Issue No.1967- A person can mortgage the property which he can legally utilise, and if he mortgages the property of another person, it will not be in order, unless the owner of the property permits it. Therefore, in case the owner of the property says to the creditor, “I mortgage this property against the debts of that fellow”, and the creditor accepts it, the mortgage will be in order.

Issue No. 1530- If several persons are involved in extracting from a mine, they should, as an obligatory precaution, pay khums on it after deducting the expenditure from it irrespective of whether the extracted material is less or more.

Issue No. 1284Rules of Congregational Prayer

One Must Not Follow Imam’s Mistake

Issue No. 1284- If, owing to mistake, the imam recites tashahhud in a rak‘at which does not have tashahhud, or recites qunūt in a rak‘at which does not have qunūt, the follower should not recite tashahhud or qunūt. But, he cannot rise before the imam or go into rukū‘ before the imam. In fact, he should make the imam realise his mistake by making a sign, and if this is not possible, he should wait until the qunūt or tashahhud of the imam comes to an end, and should offer the remainder of the prayer with him.

Issue No. 1195Qaḍā Prayer

One Must Not Neglect Offering Qaḍā Prayers

Issue No. 1195- If a person has qaḍā prayer on him, he should not be negligent in offering it though it is not obligatory for him to offer it immediately. However, if a person has missed one or two prayers just before the prayer he is going to offer, he should, as an obligatory precaution, offer the qaḍā of those prayers before the prayer of the same day.

Issue No. 866Nīyyat (Intention)

One Shoud Specify What Prayer He Is Going to Offer in Nīyyat

Issue No.866- When a person is making intention, he should specify that he is, for example, offering ẓuhr or ‘aṣr prayer or any other prayer. And if he makes intention that he is offering four rak‘ats, it is not sufficient, rather, he should specify in his intention the prayer he is going to offer and as an obligatory precaution; he should also specify whether it is adā or qaḍā.
